Who needs this service?
Around Çorlu, requests come from four groups: families living abroad whose elderly relatives fall ill during a summer visit; foreign specialists and visitors working at Çorlu’s factories; patients travelling abroad for treatment; and patients living abroad who want to continue treatment in Türkiye.
Three methods
| Method | How it works from Çorlu | When it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Road | Motorway towards Edirne, then the border gate | Bulgaria, Greece and the Balkans; stable patients |
| Scheduled flight + medical escort | Ambulance to the airport, medical staff on the flight | Patients who can sit or fly on an aircraft stretcher |
| Air ambulance | Handover to the aircraft on the apron | Long distance, serious condition, time-critical |
Because scheduled services at Çorlu’s airport are limited, scheduled-flight transfers usually use Istanbul’s airports, with the road leg from Çorlu planned as part of the journey. See meeting a patient at Çorlu airport.
Documents
Passports for patient and companion, visa or residence permit if needed, current medical report (ideally in English), a fit-to-travel note, medication list with active ingredients, an acceptance letter from the receiving hospital and any insurance policy. Airlines also require a medical form. Confirm the exact list with the consulate and receiving facility.
Repatriation for families living abroad
This usually runs through health insurance in the country of residence. The first step is to call the insurer’s emergency assistance line; once approved, we plan the road leg in Çorlu and the airport handover.
