What hiring means
In a one-off transfer the vehicle takes one patient and the job ends. With hire, the vehicle and crew do only the work you direct for the agreed period — carrying several patients a day, following a team or standing by at a site. An ambulance is never hired without its crew.

Hire versus on-site
An on-site ambulance waits at one address; a hired ambulance is on the move. For a few hours at a single event, see event ambulance. To compare offers: what is and is not included in a quote.
